"iPhone 16 screen replacement" is no longer one product. It's five. The 2024 iPhone 16 line splits into the iPhone 16e, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max — five different display assemblies, five different panel sizes, and at least two genuinely different display technologies sold as "compatible" screens. Order the wrong one against the wrong model and you'll get a screen that physically fits the frame but strips out ProMotion, Always-On display, or True Tone the moment it's installed. This guide separates what Apple actually built into each factory display from what E-Tech61 currently has in stock as a replacement part, model by model, so you order the right screen the first time.
The iPhone 16 family at a glance
All five models were factory-fitted with OLED (Apple calls it "Super Retina XDR"), not LCD — a change worth noting because several of the replacement parts on the market, including some listed below, are budget In-Cell LCD alternatives rather than OLED-matching parts. Only the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max shipped with ProMotion's adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and Always-On display. The iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are standard 60Hz panels with no Always-On mode, regardless of what OLED technology a replacement screen uses.
| Model | Factory display | Size / resolution | ProMotion 120Hz | Always-On | Chip |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 16e | Super Retina XDR OLED | 6.1″, 2532×1170, 460ppi | No | No | A18 |
| iPhone 16 | Super Retina XDR OLED | 6.1″, 2556×1179, 460ppi | No | No | A18 |
| iPhone 16 Plus | Super Retina XDR OLED | 6.7″, 2796×1290, 460ppi | No | No | A18 |
| iPhone 16 Pro | Super Retina XDR OLED | 6.3″, 2622×1206, 460ppi | Yes | Yes | A18 Pro |
| iPhone 16 Pro Max | Super Retina XDR OLED | 6.9″, 2868×1320, 460ppi | Yes | Yes | A18 Pro |

Same Spec ≠ Same Part
Every screen below is sold as "compatible with" a named iPhone 16 model. Compatible means it physically fits the frame and connects to the board — it does not automatically mean it reproduces every factory spec. Two things to check before you buy:
- In-Cell LCD vs OLED options exist side-by-side for the same model. On several iPhone 16 models, E-Tech61 stocks both a lower-cost In-Cell LCD-style screen and a genuine OLED replacement. Both are marketed as fitting the same phone — they are not the same display technology, and they will not produce identical contrast, black levels, or power draw. Read the listing title carefully.
- ProMotion and Always-On are hardware-and-firmware features of the Pro and Pro Max panels specifically. A replacement screen description that mentions "ProMotion 120Hz" or "Always-On display" on a listing for the standard iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Plus should be treated as a labelling inconsistency, not a genuine spec upgrade — the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus were never sold with ProMotion or Always-On by Apple, and no aftermarket panel changes that underlying hardware limitation. If you see this on a non-Pro listing, contact us before ordering so we can confirm the correct part for your model.
iPhone 16e screen replacement
The iPhone 16e is Apple's 2025 entry-level model in the 16 family, built around a 6.1″ Super Retina XDR OLED panel at 2532×1170 (460ppi), the A18 chip, True Tone and Wide colour (P3) — but no ProMotion and no Always-On display, and Apple's spec sheet does not list a MagSafe magnet array either. Currently the only genuinely live E-Tech61 screen listing for this model is an In-Cell HD LCD replacement:
- iPhone 16e In-Cell HD LCD Screen Replacement — full display assembly with frame. Check the product page for current stock and price.
No OLED-specification 16e replacement is currently live on our store. If you need an OLED-matching panel for a 16e, message us on WhatsApp before ordering and we'll confirm what's available.
iPhone 16 screen replacement
The standard iPhone 16 uses a 6.1″ Super Retina XDR OLED panel at 2556×1179 (460ppi) with True Tone, Wide colour and the A18 chip. Like the 16e and 16 Plus, it does not have ProMotion or Always-On — those are Pro-exclusive on this generation. Two live options exist for this model, at different display technologies and price points:
- iPhone 16 HD+ In-Cell LCD Screen Replacement — budget In-Cell LCD option.
- iPhone 16 OLED Screen Replacement Display — OLED-matching panel, closer to the original Super Retina XDR spec.
Note on marketing copy: at least one iPhone 16 OLED listing on our store currently carries "ProMotion 120Hz" and "Always-On display" wording in its tags. The factory iPhone 16 does not have either feature — this appears to be a copy error carried over from Pro-model listing templates rather than a genuine spec claim, and it's been flagged internally for correction. Don't expect 120Hz or Always-On behaviour from any iPhone 16 (non-Pro) screen, aftermarket or otherwise.
iPhone 16 Plus screen replacement
The iPhone 16 Plus steps up to a 6.7″ Super Retina XDR OLED panel at 2796×1290 (460ppi), still on the A18 chip, still without ProMotion or Always-On. Two technology tiers are live:
- iPhone 16 Plus In-Cell LCD Screen Replacement — budget In-Cell option.
- iPhone 16 Plus Super Retina XDR OLED Screen Replacement — OLED-matching panel.
If you've read older iPhone 16 Plus content elsewhere claiming ProMotion — that claim is incorrect for this model regardless of source. Apple's own Tech Specs page for the iPhone 16 Plus does not list ProMotion or Always-On among its display features.
iPhone 16 Pro screen replacement
The iPhone 16 Pro is a genuinely different display tier: 6.3″ Super Retina XDR OLED at 2622×1206 (460ppi), ProMotion adaptive refresh up to 120Hz, Always-On display, and the A18 Pro chip. A correctly specified replacement panel should be capable of reproducing the adaptive refresh behaviour — confirm this with us directly if ProMotion smoothness is a priority for you, since not every aftermarket OLED panel drives the full adaptive range identically to the factory part. Live listing:
- iPhone 16 Pro Super Retina XDR Screen Replacement — OLED panel with frame.
A second iPhone 16 Pro screen listing is also currently live on our store under a different title ("Full HD Display") at a different price point — if you see both when browsing, message us on WhatsApp to confirm which is the correct panel for your intended use before ordering, as the listing titles are not fully consistent with each other.
iPhone 16 Pro Max screen replacement
The largest panel in the family: 6.9″ Super Retina XDR OLED at 2868×1320 (460ppi), ProMotion up to 120Hz, Always-On display, A18 Pro chip. Two tiers are live:
- iPhone 16 Pro Max HD+ In-Cell Screen Replacement — budget In-Cell option. Note: an In-Cell panel on a Pro Max will not reproduce ProMotion or Always-On behaviour even though the frame and connectors match — confirm this trade-off is acceptable before choosing the cheaper option on a Pro Max.
- iPhone 16 Pro Max OLED Display Screen Replacement — OLED-matching panel.
Screen Fault Check: is it actually the screen?
Before ordering any part, confirm the fault is genuinely the display assembly and not a connector, battery, or software issue:
- Cracked glass, screen turns on normally — display assembly replacement needed.
- Lines, discolouration, or dead zones with intact glass — usually a digitizer or LCD/OLED panel fault, not the glass alone. A full assembly replacement (glass + panel + digitizer, as sold above) is the standard fix.
- Touch unresponsive in a specific area only — often points to a cracked digitizer layer under intact glass, or a loose display connector. Worth a technician inspection before buying a full panel.
- Screen flickers or shows a grey/white screen after a drop — check the display data cable/connector first; this can sometimes be a connector reseating issue rather than a dead panel.
- No display output at all, device otherwise powers on (vibrates, makes sounds) — could be the screen, but rule out a battery or logic-board fault first if the phone was dropped with no visible cracking.
Compatibility Confidence Scale
Use this before checkout:
- High confidence — you've matched your exact model (16e / 16 / 16 Plus / 16 Pro / 16 Pro Max) via Settings > General > About, and chosen the display technology (In-Cell LCD or OLED) that matches your priorities (cost vs factory-matching quality).
- Medium confidence — you know the model but haven't decided between In-Cell and OLED tiers. Message us on WhatsApp with your model and we'll talk you through the trade-off.
- Requires confirmation — you're unsure which exact model you have, you've seen conflicting spec claims (e.g. "ProMotion" on a non-Pro listing), or your phone has been repaired before and may not have fully original internals. Contact us before ordering in any of these cases.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the iPhone 16 (non-Pro) have ProMotion or Always-On display?
No. Apple's official Tech Specs confirm ProMotion's adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and Always-On display are exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max on this generation. The iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus all run standard 60Hz panels with no Always-On mode. Any replacement screen, In-Cell or OLED, that fits a non-Pro model will not add these features.
What's the difference between In-Cell LCD and OLED replacement screens?
All five iPhone 16 models were factory-fitted with OLED (Super Retina XDR) displays. In-Cell LCD replacement screens are a lower-cost aftermarket alternative that fits the same connector and frame but uses different underlying display technology — different contrast behaviour, different black levels, and typically different power draw. OLED-specification replacements are designed to sit closer to the original factory display characteristics. Neither restores ProMotion or Always-On on a non-Pro model, since those are chip- and panel-tier features specific to the Pro range.
Will a Pro Max screen fit a standard iPhone 16?
No. Each model in this family uses a different panel size and connector layout — a 6.9″ Pro Max assembly will not physically fit a 6.1″ iPhone 16 frame, and vice versa. Always match the exact model.
How do I find my exact iPhone 16 model?
Go to Settings > General > About on the device. The model name is listed directly. If the screen is already broken and you can't access Settings, the model number is printed on the original packaging or can be found via the phone's IMEI on Apple's coverage checker.
Is E-Tech61 an authorised Apple repair provider?
Not stated on our current listings — E-Tech61 sells aftermarket and OEM-alternative replacement parts, not Apple Genuine parts sourced through Apple's authorised channel. If Apple-authorised repair with Genuine parts is a requirement for you (for example to preserve certain warranty or Face ID pairing conditions), that service needs to go through Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider directly, not through this listing.
Do you fit the screen for me, or is this a DIY part?
These listings are for the replacement part itself. Fitting instructions and support are available on request — contact us via WhatsApp or phone if you'd like guidance, or ask about our fitting service availability for your specific postcode.
