OnePlus Nord 2 and Nord CE 2 Screen Replacement

How to replace a OnePlus Nord 2, Nord CE 2 or Nord CE 2 Lite screen: AMOLED vs TFT replacements and the in-display fingerprint, matching model numbers, repair steps and checks.

By the E-Tech61 team, Manchester 10 min read

You can replace a cracked or faulty OnePlus Nord 2 or Nord CE 2 screen yourself or through a repair shop, and a replacement TFT LCD screen costs £18.00 at E-Tech61 (checked 15 October 2026). The key thing to understand is that the Nord 2 and Nord CE 2 were built with AMOLED screens and an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a TFT LCD replacement does not support that in-display fingerprint. You will unlock with face unlock, a PIN or a pattern instead, and the picture will look different from AMOLED. The Nord CE 2 Lite is different: it uses an LCD as standard with a side fingerprint sensor, so an LCD replacement keeps everything working. This guide helps you identify your model, choose the right screen, and understand the repair.

Which Nord do you have?

Three similar names, three different screens. Check Settings > About device for the model name and number.

Model Model numbers Factory screen Fingerprint sensor
OnePlus Nord 2 5G DN2101, DN2103 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED, 90Hz In-display
OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G IV2201 6.43-inch AMOLED, 90Hz In-display
OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G CPH2381, CPH2409 6.59-inch LCD, 120Hz Side-mounted (power button)

Nord 2 display details are from OnePlus's Nord 2 5G specifications, which list a 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED at 2400 x 1080 and an in-display fingerprint sensor. Screens are not interchangeable between these models, even where the sizes look similar.

Do not confuse any of these with the 2015 OnePlus 2, which is a completely different, much older phone with its own parts.

AMOLED vs TFT LCD replacement screens

Replacement screens for AMOLED phones come in two main types:

AMOLED replacement TFT LCD replacement
Picture Deep blacks, high contrast, as the phone was designed Lighter blacks, lower contrast; still sharp and usable
In-display fingerprint Works Does not work; the LCD backlight blocks the optical sensor
Always-on display Works efficiently Uses more power, or best turned off
Thickness As factory Often slightly thicker
Price Higher Lower

E-Tech61's Nord 2 and Nord CE 2 replacements are TFT LCD screens and are clearly labelled "No Fingerprint". That makes them a low-cost way to bring a phone with a broken screen back into use, as long as you are happy to unlock without the in-display fingerprint.

Who should choose a TFT replacement?

  • You want the phone working again at the lowest cost.
  • The phone is a backup, a child's phone or headed for resale as a budget handset.
  • You are happy using face unlock, PIN or pattern.

Who should look for AMOLED?

  • You rely on the in-display fingerprint, for example for banking apps.
  • You want the factory picture quality and always-on display.

Signs you need a new screen

  • Cracked glass, even if the display still works. Cracks spread and can let in moisture and dust.
  • Black or purple blotches spreading across an AMOLED screen.
  • Lines, flicker or a green tint.
  • Touch not responding in areas, or the phone registering touches on its own.
  • A black screen while the phone still rings or vibrates.

Before buying, try a forced restart (hold power and volume up, or power and volume down, depending on the model, for about ten seconds) to rule out a software freeze. If you want to check whether a dead-looking screen is the display or the phone, connect the phone to a computer and see if it is detected, or call it and listen for it ringing.

How to check a OnePlus Nord 2 display

"How to check the display" usually means testing for dead pixels or touch faults. A simple approach:

  1. Display full-screen white, black, red, green and blue images and look for spots, lines or uneven areas.
  2. Open a drawing or notes app and draw slowly across every part of the screen to find dead touch zones.
  3. Check brightness at minimum and maximum for flicker.

Some OnePlus phones include engineering or diagnostic menus accessible through dialler codes, but these vary by software version and region, so we have not listed codes here. The manual method above works on any phone.

How the screen replacement works

This is an overview to help you decide whether to do it yourself. The exact order of steps varies between the Nord 2, CE 2 and CE 2 Lite, so follow a model-specific guide; iFixit's OnePlus Nord 2 5G page is a good starting point for that model.

Tools

  • Heat source (heat gun on low, hot plate or heat pad).
  • Suction cup, thin plastic picks, plastic spudger.
  • Small Phillips screwdriver.
  • SIM tray tool.
  • Isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) for cleaning adhesive.
  • New adhesive for the back cover and, if needed, the screen.
  • Eye protection; cracked glass splinters.

Steps (overview)

  1. Back up the phone if it still works, power it off and remove the SIM tray.
  2. Remove the back cover with gentle heat, a suction cup and plastic picks. Keep picks shallow near the cameras and any flex cables.
  3. Remove the board covers and disconnect the battery first.
  4. Disconnect the display flex cable from the main board.
  5. Remove the old screen. Heat the front edges, separate the display from the frame with picks, and feed the display flex through the frame. On some repairs it is easier to transfer the internals to a new frame if the screen comes pre-fitted to one.
  6. Clean the frame of old adhesive and broken glass with isopropyl alcohol.
  7. Test the new screen before gluing: connect it, reconnect the battery, power on and check display, touch across the whole screen, brightness and the earpiece and proximity sensor.
  8. Fit the screen with new adhesive, press evenly and clamp gently while it sets.
  9. Reassemble the covers and refit the back cover with new adhesive.

After fitting a TFT screen

  • Delete saved fingerprints and set up face unlock or a PIN.
  • Turn off the always-on display to save battery.
  • Adjust brightness and colour settings to taste; LCD colours differ from AMOLED.

Common mistakes

  • Ordering the wrong model's screen. Nord 2, Nord CE 2 and Nord CE 2 Lite screens are different. Match the model number.
  • Not disconnecting the battery before unplugging the display. This can damage the new screen or the board.
  • Gluing before testing. Always test first.
  • Tearing the display flex when feeding it through the frame. Go slowly.
  • Expecting the in-display fingerprint to work with a TFT screen. It will not.
  • Leaving glass fragments in the frame, which can crack the new screen when pressed.

How much does a Nord 2 display cost?

At E-Tech61, the TFT LCD screens for the Nord 2 5G, Nord CE 2 5G and the LCD screen for the Nord CE 2 Lite 5G were each £18.00 on 15 October 2026. AMOLED replacements cost more where available. If a repair shop fits the screen, add labour. Prices in other countries, which some searches ask about, vary and are not covered here.

Is it worth replacing the screen?

The Nord 2 and Nord CE 2 are from 2021 and 2022. They are no longer receiving major Android upgrades, though they remain capable everyday phones. You can check the installed Android version and security patch with Google's guide to checking your Android version. A low-cost screen replacement is worth it if the rest of the phone works and the battery is healthy. If the phone also has a worn battery or other faults, weigh the total cost against a replacement phone.

If your phone is still covered by a warranty or insurance, check with OnePlus UK support or your insurer first. When you buy parts from a UK business, you also have rights under consumer law; see GOV.UK's guide to consumer protection rights.

Troubleshooting after fitting

  • No picture but the phone vibrates: the display flex is not fully seated. Disconnect the battery, reseat the connector with even pressure, and try again.
  • Touch works only in places, or not at all: check the connector and that the flex was not creased when feeding it through the frame. A faulty part should be returned unused if possible, which is another reason to test before gluing.
  • Screen flickers at low brightness: some LCD replacements behave differently at very low brightness. Raise the minimum brightness slightly or turn off automatic brightness to check.
  • Proximity sensor problems (screen stays on during calls): make sure nothing covers the sensor area near the earpiece and that any foam or mesh was transferred.
  • Face unlock is slower: re-register your face after the repair, in good light.

Protecting the new screen

A tempered glass screen protector costs little and can save your new screen from the next drop. With a TFT replacement there is no in-display fingerprint to worry about, so any good-quality glass protector that fits your model will do. With an AMOLED replacement, choose a protector that states compatibility with in-display fingerprint sensors. A case with a raised lip around the screen adds edge protection.

DIY or repair shop?

DIY Repair shop
Cost Screen, adhesive and tools Screen plus labour
Main risks Cracking the back cover; tearing the display flex; wrong part Lower, especially with a warranty
Time One to three hours for a first attempt Often same day

If you have repaired phones before, this is a manageable job. If not, buying the screen and having a local shop fit it is a good compromise.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change a OnePlus Nord 2 screen?

Remove the back cover, disconnect the battery and display flex, heat and separate the old screen, clean the frame, test the new screen, then glue it in and reassemble. Follow a model-specific guide.

Will the fingerprint sensor work with a replacement Nord 2 screen?

Only with an AMOLED replacement. TFT LCD replacements do not support the in-display fingerprint sensor. Use face unlock or a PIN instead.

How much does a OnePlus Nord 2 display cost?

At E-Tech61 a Nord 2 5G TFT LCD replacement screen was £18.00 on 15 October 2026. AMOLED replacements cost more, and fitting by a shop adds labour.

Are Nord 2 and Nord CE 2 screens the same?

No. They are different parts. Match your model number: DN2101 or DN2103 for the Nord 2 5G, IV2201 for the Nord CE 2 5G.

Does the Nord CE 2 Lite lose its fingerprint with a new screen?

No. The CE 2 Lite uses a side-mounted fingerprint sensor in the power button, so an LCD screen replacement does not affect it.

How do I check my Nord 2 display for faults?

Show full-screen solid colours to spot dead pixels or lines, and draw slowly across the whole screen in a notes app to find dead touch areas.

Can I replace just the glass on a Nord 2?

On these phones the glass is bonded to the display, so glass-only repair needs specialist separating and laminating equipment. For DIY and most shops, replacing the whole display is the practical option, and with LCD replacements at this price it is usually the cheaper route too.

Summary

Confirm whether you have a Nord 2, Nord CE 2 or Nord CE 2 Lite, then choose the matching screen. TFT replacements are the low-cost way to fix a broken Nord 2 or CE 2, at the expense of the in-display fingerprint; the CE 2 Lite keeps full function. Test before gluing, and choose your screen above for same-day dispatch.
